What's a shared number?
Free, Usage, and Unlimited send from a pool of Contiguity numbers, so you won't always get the same number on every request. Unlimited lets you pick a preferred shared number, and its inbound beta lets recipients reply for a period after you text them. Lease a number for full inbound, the same sender every time, iMessage, or FaceTime.
When should I lease instead?
Around 10,000 texts a month. A dedicated number builds its own sender reputation, protects you from impersonation, and recipients always see the same number.
How many numbers do I need?
Inbound is unlimited on every channel, but outbound at scale can need more than one line. Carriers watch reply rates, so one number can't send 1,000 cold texts a day without losing deliverability. iMessage and FaceTime Audio also limit outbound to prevent number bans. Tell us your volume and we'll size your lines.
Do I need Unlimited to lease a number?
No. Leasing is separate from the plans. You pay the $9.99 base plus the capabilities you add, whatever plan you're on.
How is a leased number billed?
A flat $9.99 a month for the number, plus a flat monthly price for each capability. SMS & MMS is $40, iMessage is $70, and FaceTime Audio is $125. SMS & MMS alone is $49.99 a month in total, and iMessage alone is $79.99. Take both for $119.99 and RCS is included, with SMS fallback for iMessage.
Are there setup fees?
Some numbers and use cases carry a one-time setup fee or a monthly surcharge. A service contract waives setup fees.
What happens if I go over the free tier?
Free stops at 500 SMS, 100 MMS, and 1,000 emails a month. Switch to Usage or Unlimited any time from the console.
